The first edition of TomorrowWorld (2013) received raving reviews. Not only media outlets in Belgium were enthusiastic about the first foreign edition of Tomorrowland, but the American festivalgoers enjoyed the festival and were very impressed with the organisation.
Scelta Mobility and several local partners had detailed the mobility plan. Our plan initially met with scepticism and we were told to prepare for hours of congestion that had formerly plagued other events at this location. But there were no traffic jams. Traffic density in the area also remained controllable. A mix of organisational and traffic measures had resulted in less traffic than anticipated thanks to a high car occupancy rate and the huge success of the shuttle services to the various destinations in Atlanta. Traffic did not deviate from the planned feeder routes and the surrounding residential areas were thus spared.
Throughout the festival, the situation was permanently evaluated from the Event Control Center where all information was collected and analysed. Adjustments were made by on-site staff, the police and through messages via social and other media. Thanks to a correct assessment of the local situation, plenty of preparatory meetings and good cooperation with the local partners, whether or not affiliated with the festival, the mobility plan received a positive review and will serve as a basis for many events to come at this location.
